We have finished phase 1 of the artsave container competition.
In spring 2012, the art students will create a full scale Tsunami directly on the container.

Unfortunately we were not there to document the journey and arrival.

This summer, the artsave container will be installed close to Húsavík at Hestamiðstöðin Saltvík.
artsave is holding a competition for the exterior design of the artsave container and invites all kids and students from the Húsavík, Mývatn and Akureyri area to participate.

artsave versteht sich als nomadisches Untersuchungslabor. Ein Zusammenschluss von Künstlern, Wissenschaftlern, Theoretikern, Soziologen, Designern und Architekten, welcher temporäre Eingriffe im öffentlichen Raum vornimmt und forciert. Dabei handelt es sich um Formen der “In-Landnahme”, um Zwischennutzungen und kurzfristige Besetzungen bracher und nicht-bracher Flächen im öffentlichen Raum.
Als internationales Netzwerk für Künstler verschiedener Expertisen und Disziplinen, leistet artsave einen Beitrag zur Entwicklung eines erweiterten Kunstbegriffs. Das Labor verhält sich parasitär gegenüber dem Kunstsystem, wendet subversive Taktiken an und unterstützt experimentelles Kommunizieren an den Rändern und Grenzen der Disziplinen.
artsave fördert die Entstehung von Utopien in Zeiten des Kapitalismus, unterstützt Projekte ohne kommerzielle Agenda und fordert eine kritische Kunstpraxis zum Zweck gemeinnütziger Tätigkeit und mit sozialem Mehrwert.
